What is a Voice Credit? The standard Voice Credit is a voice-over for a 30-second spot. Spots less than 30 seconds are set at one-half a Voice Credit. A one-minute spot equals two Voice Credits.

Am I limited to spots of a minute or less? No. Feel free to use the NVE voice bank for longer or more complex voice overs, and simply negotiate the Voice Credit charge with the radio station offering the talent you want to use.  If you need a spot that's out of the ordinary, such as an on-hold phone message, please call NVE at 269-344-8800.

Why Should I Join NVE? :Consolidation and automation mean you have fewer voices  for local commercial production. Overexposure of in-house voices diminishes advertisers' results and reduces your ad revenue.

NVE also represents a powerful tool for your sales department.  That special "out-of-market" voice can now be offered to virtually any advertiser, without costing you additional cash.

Why use NVE instead of an outside agency or Internet provider of voices? Cost. Other sources charge per read, an expense that becomes untenable. With NVE, for the daily cost of lunch, you have unlimited ability to barter for what will be hundreds of voices – nationwide.

Ok, how much does it cost? The monthly fee is $99 for a stand-alone station. For a group, it's $99 for the flaghship station. Lead stations in different markets cost $49, and additional stations in the same market cost $20 each. Repeater stations are not included in the fee schedule. So a group with three stations in two markets would pay a monthly fee of $168 ($99 for the flagship station, $49 for a station in market two, and $20 for the second station in the same market). Further discounts are also available for groups with more than 10 stations.

Wait a minute, let me get a pencil. No need. When you sign up, we'll ask you to enter how many markets you're in and how many stations you have. We do the math, and your fee appears immediately, before you complete the sign-up process.

How is this possible? How will I be able to get hundreds of voices for a small monthly charge?  Fixed, no less? Barter. You trade your voices for those from other broadcasters through NVE's online clearinghouse.

How does it work? Upon joining, you will be advanced a “line of voice credit.” Use it with whomever you wish, for whatever voice you want. A fresh female voice for a furniture store. A unique urban voice for a men's clothing store. High energy, institutional, regional accents--whatever your advertiser is looking for.

What if I'm in a hurry for a last-minute read?  In addition to being able to select a voice based on characteristics such as gender and style, you can also make an "All Swim" request.  With All Swim, your request goes out to everyone, like in an email blast.  Generally, there's always someone ready and willing to pick it up.

Sounds like a trade exchange. What's the difference? NVE is a trade exchange, but instead of using trade dollars, you use voice credits.

Do you know something about trade exchanges? Do we ever. NVE's parent company is Midwest Business Exchange, a national leader in retail barter since 1980.

Everyone loves my staff's voices. What if I get too much credit? Simply redeem it for jingles, vacations, or on-air promotional items.

What if it's reversed: I'm using more than they're using me?  You can recharge your account by calling NVE and providing other products we can trade, such as air time or other bartered goods.

What is the length of membership?  Month-to-month. No long-term contract.
